I am Pierangela Dózsa Chiodi.
My life has been a constellation of everyone who has mentored me through my artistry. My apprenticeship begins in Miami Beach. My parents immigrated from Venezuela in 2000 to provide their children with a better life. As a result, I grew up in a city where magic grows in even the darkest corners.
From a young age, I clung to the arts. I’d see my mother paint in her free time and watch the years go by with every brush stroke. Through her, I found my home in art and, later, in music.
Music came into my life through jam sessions hosted by neighbors in the common area of our condominium. People from all walks of life would boast instruments from all over the world and improvise to communicate through a language that transcends the need for dialogue—Music has been my biggest love since.
Though I always loved to sing, I began writing my own music and performing when I was 12. At 14, I started attending New World School of The Arts in the Classical Voice strand, singing Alto 2 in an opera choir run like the Navy by the deeply loved Leslie Alan Denning.
Around this time, Jazz and various genre fusions became the focus of my playlists. Artists like Hiatus Kaiyote, Anderson Paak, and Sabrina Claudio helped me understand what it is to speak through music, which helped me flourish as a composer and singer-songwriter. Throughout high school, I painted Murals as a freelance artist and used my earnings to fund my passions as a singer and independent artist.
Composing flowed into producing, and I’m now completing my third year at Berklee College of Music, studying Music Production and Engineering.
During this time, I have also been working on my music and performing as a lead vocalist for the AfroBeat All-Stars and Gather ‘Round in Miami.
Time flies, but one thing stands true—my love for the arts has never wavered and I intend on using all these beautiful learning opportunities to strengthen my message through the music I continue to craft.
